During the project work period, our group face problems. We had to choose from five heroes as we only had to present one particular point of view for the documentary. From Adnan Bin Saidi to Lim Bo Seng and Force 136,our group finally decided which subject we are going to work on.
Some of us said that we should choose Elizabeth Choy as she was the first woman in singapore to withstand so many hardships and tortures from The Japanese and still she can live to tell us the story of it.
However, we had decided on Lieutenant Adnan as we had little knowledge on him. By choosing lieutenant adnan,we can learn more about him while doing our researchs.
Below are our indivual comments on why we had choose Lieutenant Adnan:
Julia: I choose to do Left. Adnan because I personally thinks he sarcifies and contributed more to Singapore. Also,I want to know more on him, hence, I agreed with my group members when they suggested to do on Lieutenant Adnan.I think that my group members choose Left. Adnan as we were rather interested in him and even though we knew there was this person who made contributions to Singapore but we have very little knowledge on him.
Wei Hoon:I agreed with my group members that we should choose Left.Adnan as the subject we should work on instead. After doing so many research,I felt that he is a good role model for us to learn from. From his determined spirit to his love for his country,we are very sure that it would be interesting for us to do a video on him. This was how our group had decided to choose to do the project on Adnan Bin Saidi. All of us find it interesting and quite challenging to do.
The amine video above was taken from you-tube,the link is available here. The video above are about Adnan Bin Saidi,a great hero who fight the Japanese attack to the very end.Till now, his last words "DEATH, BEFORE DISHONOUR..." to his man was deeply planted in the Malays.
From this quote,we can infer that Lieutenant Adnan was well respected by his troops. We know this as the video stated that they was left with no other choice but to fight till the end. However, none of the soldiers show any signs of opting out of the battle.
Thus,we can infer that the soldiers respect him and took all his words to heart. In this video, we saw the determined spirit in the Malay regiment that were lead by Lieutenant Adnan. Although they had insufficient food and ammunition, they had the will to fight for Singapore despite the enemies attack. Although Adnan bin Saidi were shot,he still did his very best to defence Pasir Panjang Ridge. But,the battle was still lost to the Japanese. After the battle, the wounded Adnan was taken prisoner by Japanese soldiers, who tied him to a rubber tree and bayoneted him to death.
This actions had left him in history, he was considered by the Malaysians and Singaporeans of today as a hero.
When doing the project:
Julia: I feel that we are behind our time line but we still managed to finish in the end even though
there are many technical problems and time allocation problems. Overall, our group members are well corordinated and were coroperative. Each of us contributed in our own ways.Such as contributing ideas, posting research summaries on the blog.
Wei Hoon: I feel that we are not following the time line. But we could cope with the our tasks and i really enjoyed the entire process working with my team mates-Julia,Derek,Nicholas,Sunarsih and Kang ling.Though we tend to talk about other subject during discussion, we still managed to appoint duties to each others. This is a point that we need to improve on. From the process, I had learnt how to work together as a group, to listen attentively to each others when they are contributing their own ideas. In this project, I learn how much a normal person had to be a hero.
Nicholas: I enjoyed the project and my team mates are fun, funny and interactive. They contribute quite a number of ideas for the project. We had a lot of fun interacting with each other. I also know more new webistes for me to find information for research.
Surnasih: I feel that doing the project is fun and interesting because i get to learn about singapore’s history as well as get to know some of the new classmates. Working with a group that consist of only Chinese students is quite a new experience as i always work with team mates that is either mostly my own race or my own cliques. Overall, i guess the project when well and as planned.
