I’m sure some of us need to do some touch up on our article that we are going to write on.Meanwhile, the others can edit the video or find music that can be put up in our documentary.Maybe some of us can find some music for our documentary,ok?

Newspaper article on icomic-battle of bukit chandu

23 05 2008

Battle of Bukit Chandu

Lt.adnan bin saidi led a 42 strong platoon from the malay regiment in defending singapore against the japanese that were invading singapore.

Although most of the battle in other parts of singapore was lost to the japanese, the last battle that the malay regiment had against was the Battle of bukit Chandu. It lasted for 2 days, from February 12 to 14, 1942.They battled for two days amid heavy enemy shelling and shortages of food and ammunition.

The malay regiment and Lt. Adnan bin saidi had a strong fight with the Japanese invader at bukit chandu. Little do they know that it was their last time fighting with the japanese for their country ; singapore.

On the first day of the battle of bukit chandu, the malay regiment that were made up of volunteers from the malay men, were determined to fight till the end. However, they were outnumbered by the japanese troops in terms of manpower and weapons.

Yet, they had a strong will to fight and refused to surrender. This was so as they were entrusted the responsibility to defend pasir panjang ridge.

How was this done? The malay regiment’s leader: Lt.Adnan Bin Saidi was a brave one that took the team’s spirit to the highest by encourging them to not to give up and to be loyal to their country.

No one in the Malay regiment disobeyed him as they all respected him.Lt.Adnan Bin Saidi even have a motto to keep them going for the battle. That was : Death before Dishonour.

With this motto in mind, none of the 42 malay regiment soldiers gave up and fight till the end for their country during the Battle of Bukit Chandu in Pasir panjang ridge. But Lt.Adnan was shot yet he still carried on fighting the Japanese.

However, the brave lietunant of the 42-platoon malay regiment were caught by the Japanese soldiers as they lost to them. After the battle was lost, the wounded Adnan was taken as a prisoner by the Japanese soldiers, who tied him to a rubber tree and then bayoneted him to death.

Draft for photo journalism (last pg)

22 05 2008

Adnan Saidi is a firm man who took discipline seriously, chose instead to pursue the military vocation.

Adnan’s ship was sunk by the Japanese soldiers.

Adnan was shot, but he continued fighting. After the battle was lost, Adnan was taken as a prisoner by the Japanese soldiers. He was later hung on a rubber tree, and was bayoneted to death.

Adnan caught the disguised Indian troops’ marching error.

When Singapore surrendered, the Japanese kempeitai tried but did not succeed to find and murder Adnan’s family in revenge for what happened in Bukit Chandu.

Ps: Please tell me if this is enough. If not I will add more information.
