Fort Siloso Trip:

On the first trip to Fort Siloso, it was raining heavily and we couldn’t do anything, as we didn’t have a back-up plan. On the second trip, there weren’t enough video cameras so some groups have to share cameras, and we were one of them. Since we had to share the cameras, I guess there wasn’t as much time. Overall, I feel that we should have a backup in everything we do , in case something unexpected happens.

On Other Groups Presentation and overall reflections:

Basically, the main problem is that people will tend to look at their script, or the presentation slides when presenting. I feel that in order to prevent that, we should make summarise more about the topic and make each slide short and which can be easy to understand. By doing this, we would be able to maintain eye contact with the audience. We should project our voice further as some people would not be able to hear us. We should also try to explain clearly, and show some examples so that it would be easier to understand. I am sorry that I didn’t contribute or participate actively in this project. Overall, I think that I should voice out my opinions and thoughts as well as help my group members when they are in need. I should also contribute in other ways.

I think that I had not contributed enough for this project work. It is because I have some internet connection problems. But during group discussion in school, I was the one who talked and gave ideas. I think that some people in the group should start talking and contributing to the project.

For the fort siloso trip, our filming turned out to be quite smooth although one of our group members went to her dance competition. Derek became the narrator and the interviewer instead of Julia. It was quite a last minute plan. But it still went on quite well. There are a few things that did not go on so well. One of them is that, there were not enough video cameras for the whole class. Therefore, everybody is worrying whether the project could be finish or not. Our group and Ken’s group workes together to finish up our project. Both groups were supporting enough that we could complete most of the task there. Overall, I think that we have team spirit and we can work well with other groups.

During researching and discussing, not all of us contributed. Nicholas most of the time will talk nonsense. I had tried my best as a leader to stop him from talking out of topic but he just do not want to listen. Kang Ling never talk. She just kept quiet the whole time. When I ask her for some ideas, she will just shrug or smile. I think she have to learn to voice out her ideas rather than keeping it inside her. Wei Hoon, Derek and Julia discussed and contributed alot to this project. I really appreciated them. Maybe I should not be the leader afterall. The leader should either be Derek or Weihoon because they did alot of work and they are the ones who gave instructions to the group members. I hope that Nicholas would stop saying things out of topic and KangLing would begin to talk and contribute more towards the group.

Lastly, I would end my reflections with reflections on the presentation that we are going to do. After seeing the other groups present, i really hope my group would not repeat their mistakes. Each of us should project our voices and also not to read directly from the powerpoint slide. We should also show the class the points on the mindmap when we are presenting. If not, the class would not understand and have to search for the point on the mindmap.

After the few presenters who had presented in class, I find that it is important that we, group5, should not try to make the same mistakes that they did. For example, presenters should PROJECT their voices so that the WHOLE class can hear them. Since we are all presenters, and we are going in pairs, it is a advantage because one of the two can actually help his/her partner who is presenting.Reminding presenters not to say”maybe” during presentation.

Also, we should NOT TALK to the class as if we are reading. We must make the audience INTERESTED in our presentation. For a few presentations, we have discuss that we find it boring. In order to make our audience interested in our presentations, we must make the presentation interesting and have activities such as, group discussions or games maybe?

Lastly, the point which I find most important is that we must have communication within group members. I found out that the person controlling the computer must be alert when the presenters have moved on to another part of the topic given.

I hope that our presenters are all present on that day and I wish all presenters in our group good luck. Hope that we will score well in our exams and mostly this project. (:

Infering for the answer is rather challenging and I was quite confused whether the answers I have written is correct. 1 of the area I was weak in inferingwas that I tend to just lift my answers from the source given and then repharse the sentence structure but the meaning of the whole answers is exactly the same like the source.
I also know that my sentence strcuture was not very good as my english is not strong. I should actually read out what I have been writing and check whether it is the correct answers. Infering skills is actually quite challenging for me because I find it quite difficult to master the skill well. I know that some of my classmates are good in that skills and I should be learning from them.

I will try to work hard and master the infering skills better to pass my next history test so that I can get good results and can acutally help with explaining things.

P.s : I am very sorry for the late reflections as my internet is not working for the past few days. I have already told my group members.
